I am so used to taking a bus back to my hometown from KLIA but today I decided to try and take the bus from KLIA2. Yes, the new KL international airport terminal.
It was confusing for me at first as the ticketing counters is not operated by the bus operators but by staff of gateway klia2 i assume as the counters do not bear the company logo of the bus operators like the ones in KLIA. Maybe this is the concept that the government wanted to introduced in TBS, a centralised ticketing system. I kind of like this system as it saves me the trouble of going from one counter to the other just to get my ticket.
So how do get your tickets:
If you are from the KLIA2 terminal head towards Gateway KLIA2 which is the building that looks more like a shopping complex than an airport. Basically just follow the signage showing the bus symbol.
Once you have arrived at the counters as shown in picture one you can start using the touchscreen monitor at the counter to search for your ticket. Select the destination and a list of busses with departure time will appear.Actually you do not really need to use the touchscreen as the staff at the counter will do the selection based on your request. All you have to do is look at the monitor to confirm that the staff have selected the right ticket for you. At the moment I think payment is by cash only as today most of the counter is showing the sign "Cash Only". So pay the amount required and you will be given your ticket.
Finding the right platform is a matter of walking out of the air conditioned area towards the busses (not towards the exit near taxis). Door 1 is the nearest to platform A1 and B1 so if you are heading to platform A9, Door 1 is definitely not the best option.
Have a safe trip.
